It’s all about who you know. And darling, you’ve come to the right place!
Over 300 guests beautifully dressed in 1920’s attire were in attendance at the newly opened Pink Flamingo Spiegelclub in Broadbeach to witness the vows of gcVIP’s very own Andrew Meadowcroft and his partner of 20 years, Dr Cameron Nobbs.
Entering the palatial pink venue, guests were greeted with a welcome margarita as they took in the spectacular surroundings of plush pink velvet booths, the impressive 20 metre custom designed LED screen which set the backdrop of The Great Gaysby and the spectacular gold and white croquembouche wedding cake tower.
Celebrant and 102.9 Hot Tomato radio host, Emily-Jade O’Keefe warmly welcomed guests and, shortly after, the grooms entered the stage for the wedding ceremony. Exchanging Gatsby themed black and gold wedding bands as well as Hugo Boss watches, the crowd erupted with laughter as Cameron jokingly held out a toy pink flower ring to a surprised Andrew before the real rings where presented.
After the signing of the wedding papers, the newly married couple were welcomed back to the stage where dramatically and to rapturous applause, a podium rose them into the air to the tune of Xanadu!
The Collective Catering wowed all with their mobile catering of the event, proving there’s nothing they can’t do. To Gatsby-themed music guests enjoyed a prawn buffet of peeled cooked prawns and mini prawn cocktails set amidst a dazzling ice sculpture display, an 8-tier cheese tower, Moreton Bay bug rolls, mushroom and truffle gnocchi as well as a creamy chicken gnocchi, salmon blinis, Gatsby pigs in blankets, spring rolls, gyoza – and so so much more. Being foodies, Andrew and Cameron wanted only the best and lots of it. The Collective Catering certainly excelled and everyone was raving about their favourite dish of the night.
Andrew and Cameron each gave heart warming speeches of their life and times together, and Cameron explained how he surprised Andrew with his proposal last Christmas in front of family and friends.
They couple also thanked their guests from near and far for sharing in this momentous occasion with them as well as toasted their gratitude to Sue Porrett and Tony Rigas co-owners of the incredible Pink Flamingo, Jeremy Davidson of The Collective Catering Palm Beach and to Madisons Cafe Broadbeach (creators of the amazing croquembouche).
Sue Porrett, co-owner of the Pink Flamingo, then took to the stage and introduced a sneak peak performance of three acts from the new sassy SUAVÉ show – including one which featured a bathtub and a very handsome athletic gentleman who performed some amazing aerial acts….which every female and several males in the crowd enthusiastically filmed on their phones! Jaw dropping.
The atmosphere was still at fever pitch as Andrew and Cameron then popped a magnum of one of the world’s truly elegant Champagnes PERRIER-JOUET Belle Epoque, perfectly befitting The Great Gaysby theme.
A jazz band featuring the vocals of Vanessa Krummenacher got people sashaying to the dancefloor whilst other guests posed for Regina and Peter from The Gold Coast Bulletin and other roving photographers at the event.
DJ Little j took to the decks and didn’t she know how to get everyone to the dancefloor! Whilst everyone was waiting for one ‘bad’ song so they could rest their feet, she showed no mercy and the dancing didn’t stop until well after midnight.
