It’s our very own Fiji and it’s on your doorstep! Yup, big call but we’re going there. Just a short ferry ride from the Port of Brisbane, Moreton Island is as pretty as a postcard with its palm tree lined beaches, crystal blue water, endless outdoor recreation and golden sunsets. Unless you’re the camping type, you’ll want to be staying at the Tangalooma Island Resort. Choose from hotel rooms with a view or the expansive beachside villas. Stanthorpe

Wine country anyone? Hit the road in a westerly direction and soon enough you will arrive at Stanthorpe in Queensland’s wine country – The Granite Belt. Imagine quaint cellar door wine tasting, old-school breweries, paddock-to-place produce, yummy cheese (oh, so much cheese), picturesque rolling countryside and a full-bodied glass of red by a hot-bodied man…I mean, fire. When you’re not eating and drinking, stroll the local art galleries and museums or take a hike through the iconic Girraween National Park. Now that sounds like a perfect winter weekend right there.

Brisbane

When was the last time you stayed in Brisbane? Don’t forget there’s a whole other city just up the road from us! Take a trip to Queensland’s ‘big-smoke’ and live like a city-slicker for a few days. Sexy design hotels, funky restaurants and bars and ahhh-mazing boutique shopping. While you’re there, be sure to take a ferry ride on the Brisbane River, pay a visit to the Gallery of Modern Art and unearth a swag of new breweries in Newstead. Brunswick Heads

It’s the sleepy coastal town just north of Byron Bay. Like many of our favourite spots in the Northern Rivers, it’s equal parts hippie and swanky. You’ll love staying at the converted Sails Motel with its slick white exterior, pool club and adjoining pizza bar. The Brunswick Heads Pub is a must on a Sunday for tasty tucker and live music. Pick-up a coffee and croissant from the famed Bruns Bakery before strolling the local markets, enjoying a SUP on the river or soaking up the winter sun from the stunning Torakina Beach. Just remember to sort your border pass before you leave!
