The Star Gold Coast Chief Operating Officer Jess Mellor said colourful entertainment would bring festive flavour to the iconic Gold Coast resort, while some of its most popular restaurants would inject international flair into a custom menu of uniquely crafted dishes to honour the important cultural celebration.
“What better way to mark this auspicious occasion than to watch a dazzling lion dance and firecracker performance. For a prosperous and luxurious start to the Lunar New Year, guests can indulge in our most decadent seafood with Kiyomi’s magnificent Seafood Celebration Platter.”
The Star has placed considerable thought and attention into every detail of its Lunar New Year experience to ensure guests who can not travel overseas for traditional family celebrations can still enjoy an authentic and uplifting celebration.
Lion dancers will bring energy and excitement to The Star as the much-loved spectacle weaves its way through the property, delighting guests of all ages.

The traditional lion dance begins with a bang as firecrackers are lit at the property’s main entrance. The dancers weave their way through the Atrium and Imperial at the Star restaurant, before dancing through The Darling Lobby to end the performance in the main foyer.

- Thursday 11 February (eve of Lunar New Year) – firecrackers, lion dance
- Friday 12 February (Lunar New Year) – firecrackers, lion dance performance in the Atrium

Executive Chef of Asian Cuisine, Song Yao Su, has combined traditional Mandarin and Cantonese ingredients with his signature flair to craft a special Lunar New Year menu for Imperial at the Star.
Chef Song brings more than 30 years of international experience to his all-inclusive menu that highlights an eclectic mix of flavours and fusions as well as region-specific dishes.
