Tucked away in Mudgeeraba, a short drive from the Gold Coast coastline, the Gold Coast now boasts a spectacular wedding and events venue, Kwila Lodge which us set to open August 2023.

Located on Boomerang Road, the 5.5-acre property houses one of the Gold Coast’s original dwellings which dates back to 1923.  Restored, reimagined, redefined.

When Eco Studio Fellini was placed on the market, The Bower Estate and Ridgeway Group teams decided to combine forces to create an exclusive wedding and events business.  A venue that would pay homage to the grounds and buildings’ history, but at the same time create a new and exciting business, with a strong eco luxe focus.

“When the opportunity arose to purchase the former Eco Studio Fellini, it was over a long lunch with Daniel and Ruggie that we decided we should invest to create something very special and unique.” Amanda Appel co-owner of Kwila Lodge.

“We wanted to breathe new life into the property, but at the same time respect the history and heritage of the grounds and building.”

With an investment of over $2 million in renovations and extensions, Kwila Lodge is certain to be one the best locations for weddings and corporate events on the Gold Coast.

Kwila Lodge can cater for wedding and corporate/private events for 160 sit down or up to 200 cocktail style.

 “Kwila was born from a passion shared between our two families, to extend our specialty of creating stunning venues that incorporate and nurture our natural surroundings. It was important to us to honour the history of the property and provide the Gold Coast with a beautiful option to celebrate in a heritage style setting.” Said co-owner Amanda Appel.

“As many original features as possible have been kept, such as 100-year-old-stained glass, the hand-kilned clay brick accommodation, original clad and more, to heighten the sentimentality felt when you enter each space.” she said.

The main building was originally a school in Beaudesert and was relocated to the property decades ago and transformed into a function centre.

The food and beverage experience at Kwila Lodge is certain to impress led by the Ridgeway Catering Group.   Ridgeway Catering are well known as one of the Gold Coast’s finest off-site catering companies, along with owning and operating the award-winning restaurant Little Truffle and Palm Beach Avenue (PBA).

The allure of Kwila Lodge moves beyond the main homestead for wedding and corporate events with the Great Lodge, a one-of-a-kind master accommodation suite with a soaring ceiling, original stone fireplace, dining room and loft.

The Great Lodge was originally a ‘barn’ restaurant by the Coombes family, then by the Fellini family.  After extensive renovation to return it to accommodation, the Great Lodge will also open in August 2023.   In addition to the Great Lodge, further accommodation will be unveiled at a later date.
