Launch of the Gold Coast Media Society

On Friday, 22nd August 2025, the Gold Coast’s leading media professionals came together for the inaugural Gold Coast Media Society event, hosted at the spectacular rooftop venue, Nineteen at The Star.

This exclusive, invitation-only cocktail gathering was designed to bring together journalists, broadcasters, editors, presenters, and publicists in a relaxed yet sophisticated setting, overlooking the glittering skyline as the sun set across the city.

The Gold Coast Media Society was established to provide a platform for genuine connection and collaboration within the media community. Away from the fast-paced demands of newsrooms, studios, and production deadlines, the evening offered guests the rare chance to network informally, exchange ideas, and celebrate the creativity that drives the city’s vibrant media landscape.

Guests were welcomed with complimentary canapés and cocktails, setting the tone for an evening of conversation and camaraderie. Among the notable attendees were some of the region’s most respected names in television and radio, including Emily Jade O’Keeffe from Hot Tomato Breakfast Crew, Liz Cantor from Channel 10, Mia Glover from Channel Nine’s Today Show, Sally Pearson from Channel 7 Sunrise, and well-known media personality Shelley Craft.

The event also saw strong representation from national broadcasters, with Alex Utting, Alyssa Martin, Emma Hanigan, Sarah Cummings, and Tom Forbes from ABC, alongside Channel 9’s Damo, Jiselle Manning, Paige Van Lunteren, Petrina Zaphir, and Rod Power. From digital and lifestyle publications, leaders such as Anastatia White from Scout Magazine, Belinda Symonds and Carly King from Inside Gold Coast, Isabel Croker from Urban List, and Rhonda Oxnam from Cove Magazine brought further breadth and diversity to the gathering.

The Star Gold Coast itself was represented by Jennifer Cronin and Kel Flanders, while Andrew Meadowcroft of Squirrel House and Carly King from Inside Gold Coast reflected the strength of independent media voices.

With the elegant backdrop of Nineteen’s pool deck and sweeping views of the coastline, the atmosphere was one of both sophistication and celebration. Conversations flowed as connections were made, ideas were exchanged, and future collaborations were sparked.
