Uncle Su is Now Open!
New Cantonese restaurant, Uncle Su, is now open at The Star Gold Coast, marking the first in several new
dining destinations opening within The Star’s impressive new tower set to open later this year.
Inspired by the cultural heritage and authentic Chinese family traditions of Executive Chef Song Yao Su, after
which the restaurant is affectionately named, Uncle Su will offer an impressive rendition of classic Cantonese
cuisine, created with local Australian ingredients and a coastal sensibility.
To celebrate the opening, local media and broadcast personalities were invited to enjoy a delicious blend of Chef
Song’s Cantonese style favourites – each made with considered precision and the finest locally sourced produce.
The menu included an array of live seafood including a freshly steamed barramundi with black bean sauce and
platefuls of sweet & spicy prawns, a specialty Dim Sum menu full of beloved classics like Char Siu Bao and Siu
Mai handmade to order and creamy freshly baked egg tarts to finish.
As tea is also an integral part of the Uncle Su experience, before their meal, guests were also guided through a
traditional Chinese tea ritual – also known as a ‘Kung Fu’ ritual by a dedicated tea connoisseur and were able to
try Uncle Su’s selection of rare Chinese teas sourced by Chef Song himself, some that cost up to $90 per pot.
