It’s all about who you know. And darling, you’ve come to the right place!
You only need to Google the popular ‘Celebrities without eyebrows’ to see how dramatically our prized facial furs can transform a face.
Over the years our brows have really put in the hard yards. We’ve had thin brows, arched brows, bleached brows, short brows, bushy brows, bold brows…oh my!
So what’s next you ask?
Laminated Brows!
If you’ve been on Instagram lately you have probably noticed models around the globe now sporting the iconic ‘brushed-up-brow-look’ synonymous with brow lamination.
We caught up with renowned Gold Coast makeup artist and brow expert, Nikki Mitchell to explain the new facial phenomena.
Tell us about how your Brow Lamination works:
I use a new technique that originated in Europe called Keratin Brow Lamination. It’s basically a fancy little treatment for your brows which gives them a uniform brushed-up shape for an extended period of time – that’s one of the main reasons my clients love it so much. Your salon brows last for roughly 6 weeks with lamination!
How do I know if the Laminated look with suit me?
Having been a makeup artist for over 20 years, I definitely have a knack for looking at a face and eye shape and knowing which brow is best suited. Many of the models I work with prefer the really dramatic brushed-up looked. However, you can still enjoy the stayed effects of lamination with a less dramatic style to start with, if you prefer.
How does it work, will it hurt, what should we know?
Brow Lamination is normally a three-step process. However, I include a complimentary wax, tint and trim in my service for clients, making it a six-step process for the best results.
I leave a 45 minute appointment for each client with Brow Lamination. Firstly, I will apply a solution which makes the brow hair jelly-like. Then, I shape the hairs into place and check with the girls as to exactly how they’d like them to sit. Finally, a Keratin treatment is applied to the brows to keep them in tip-top condition.
The process does not hurt. I check before I start that clients don’t have any irritations or any allergies. Some girls can be sensitive to it but I keep checking throughout the entire process. For this reason, it’s really important that Brow Lamination is performed by a certified brow specialist such as myself.
What other brow services do you suggest?
If you’re not sure you’re ready for brow lamination, you could try Henna Brow Styling or Ombré Brows. Both these techniques are also great for creating natural-looking thick brows.
I use a hybrid tint to create Henna and Ombré brow illusions. These are great for creating a fuller brow – targeting gaps and light hairs. I basically customise each treatment to my clients specific brow needs.
At the end of the day, it should be a collaborative process with your brow specialist. I take pride in servicing all of my clients personally – they always know they will get me when booking in for brow treatments. This way the results are always on point and we can achieve #browgoals together.
I love nothing more than seeing my clients smile at themselves in the mirror post treatment! Great brows really can transform a face!
We hear you’re planning to tour Australia next year to teach Brow Master Classes, is it true?
Yes, that’s the plan (pending travel restrictions and border openings of course)! I regularly get DM’s from brow specialists all around the world asking how I create my thick and natural looking brows. They think I’m tattooing the brows which I’m not. I also have models and clients that specifically travel from interstate to have me treat their brows – it’s very flattering. So, I’ve decided it’s time to take my Brow Master Classes on the road. I cannot wait! Be sure to watch my Instagram page for updates.
