Arguably the Gold Coast’s most awarded builder, Sanctuary 28’s Don Cotterill, is set to unveil his first architecturally designed display home right in the heart of Broadbeach this week.
The unique residential development located on the busy intersection at 70 TE Peters Drive exemplifies Sanctuary 28’s ingenuity and craftsmanship – setting a remarkable new benchmark for the future of residential housing across the South-east Queensland and beyond.
“The site had a number of challenges – so the clever use of space and design was key”, says Director Don Cotterill.
Having acquired the 638 square meter corner block in December 2018, Don and his team began the initial planning with Architect Paul Uhlmann to reimagine the site and to deliver a truly sensational urban oasis – The Corner House.
The Corner House features two floors of sundrenched living space with four bespoke bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, expansive kitchen and entertaining areas, resort-style swimming pool with a built-in water cabana, as well as an adjoining fully-contained living or work space – all under the one roof!
“We were contending with not only the position on a busy intersection and the subsequent road noise but also the unusual triangular shape of the block which backed onto a narrow canal frontage. Unlike other locales, the property did not have an appealing outlook – so I needed to create one”.
An impressive two-storey, landscaped courtyard/atrium lies at the centre of the 412 square metre home. This dreamy light-filled space creates a pristine vista enjoyed from all areas of the house whilst maximising family privacy.
“For us, The Corner House is an important showcase of what Sanctuary 28 can deliver for a bespoke residential home on the Gold Coast”, says Don.
“The city is maturing, so must our creativity around functional family homes that can both accommodate the rise of multigenerational living and work-from-home arrangements but also the importance of finding peace and privacy from our increasingly busy lives”.
“The Corner House site would not have initially been considered as ideal for many buyers. However, it goes to show that thoughtful design can really transform any block into your dream home. This is really important to me when working with clients on new builds and renovations. That is why we always ask customers to engage and involve your builder at the very start of the design process”, Don explains.
The Corner House was designed in consultation with Architect Paul Uhlmann. Not dictated to by any particular style or fashion, Paul responds to the individual requirements of each client and site.
“Don had a clear vision for The Corner Block and it was a joy to bring the display to life. We created a textured facade at the front of the property which beckons an urban oasis. The combination of stone, brick, wood and glazing adds to the resort-style feel”, says Paul.
“The main living zone is positioned on the south with the self-contained space to the north. These two distinct spaces are merged by the central courtyard and atrium which feature substantial glazing, allowing for maximised natural light, ventilation and the inward focus on aesthetic”.
The Corner House offers a luring sanctuary from the outside world. Situated on a prominent corner at 70 TE Peters Drive, Broadbeach, the two-storey design demonstrates how to maximize on your land’s location.
