It’s all about who you know. And darling, you’ve come to the right place!
ScoMo says you can get back in the Salon – how do you feel?
Ecstatic and relieved! After almost 8 weeks since my last makeup job, whilst I am feeling refreshed after a nice break, I am so happy to return to doing what I love!
What did you enjoy about isolation?
To be honest, I have thoroughly enjoyed parts of isolation. I spent my days returning to things I love, that I had missed doing due to work usually being so busy. I spent most days doing sunrise beach walks, working from home creating content for my YouTube channel and social platforms, cleaning up around the house and doing tasks I had put off for a very long time! I made sure I used the time to be as productive as possible, whilst also really winding down. I feel like I won’t get another break like that again until I retire!
What are the things you missed most during isolation?
In the initial stages of isolation it was definitely the social aspect I missed most. Facetiming wasn’t quite cutting it for me and I really missed seeing my friends. I also REALY missed going to the gym, my yoga studio and having breakfast at cafes!
During this downtime, have you had any re-evaluating of old ways, light-bulb ideas or changing expectations?
100%. I don’t think I have heard the term “pivot” more in my life since Covid-19. I have definitely re-evaluated my business and personal life. I want to focus on having more work/life balance in the future and taking full advantage of online platforms in terms of generating revenue to work smarter not harder. This has really forced many of us to think outside the box and it has definitely brought on the future sooner in terms of businesses knowing they can work from home and taking things more online.
Do you think Covid-19 has/will change the way the beauty industry will operate? If so, how? Or is it simply ‘back to business’?
Most definitely. The positive that has come from this is that it has drawn even more attention to hygiene. Unfortunately, not everyone would have been as hygienic pre Corona as perhaps they hopefully are now. It has brought awareness to what I would consider ‘basic hygiene’ – especially in an industry like makeup artistry where some artists were lacking in this area heavily. Things like double dipping into products, not using disposables and cross contaminating products on multiple clients. It has been a huge wake-up call to some, that this is not ok and now we must go above and beyond those measures to ensure our clients’ safety as well as our own.
We spied on Instagram that you have a Cosmetics line launching later this year? What can you tell us?
This is true and probably the best thing to come out of 2020 to date haha! I am launching a cult product that is in line with my signature style… yep, you guessed it, eyeliner! I am about to go into production – Corona slowed this down somewhat – but expect to see some epic eyeliner launching in the coming months! Not just another eyeliner, I have specially formulated this to be a high performing product that is professional grade and designed by a professional (me!). The blackest of matte black, long wearing and most importantly easy to apply!
